As a Category Buyer, you will compile and execute category plans in alignment with the company’s strategy, objectives, and category group guidelines. Your role will focus on optimizing category performance through strategic planning, customer-centric initiatives, and adherence to financial and operational targets.
Minimum Requirements
- Relevant University Degree (preferred)
- 3–4 years of retail experience
- Category Management expertise (specializing in Baby Care)
- Proven track record in achieving financial KPIs
- Proficiency in SAP and data analysis

- Strong foundation in buying principles
- Excellent networking and relationship-building skills
- Advanced verbal and written communication
- High computer literacy (Excel & PowerPoint)
- Ability to manage extensive administrative tasks
- Commercial and financial acumen with analytical proficiency
- Collaborative skills in a matrix structure
- Sound judgment and decision-making
- Persuasive negotiation and influencing abilities
- Effective under pressure and fast-paced environments
Key Responsibilities
Negotiation
- Develop and present compelling arguments to secure supplier agreements
- Manage conflicts diplomatically and anticipate negotiation challenges
Category Strategy
- Analyze data to craft growth-focused category strategies
- Assess merchandising plans and recommend adjustments
- Identify process enhancements to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness
Category Performance
- Monitor and interpret sales, margins, stock, and other key metrics
- Stay informed on industry trends and competitive dynamics
- Implement tactical buying plans aligned with business goals
Supplier Relations
- Evaluate supplier performance using agreed metrics
- Build and sustain strong supplier relationships
Private Brand Development
- Execute private brand strategies within the category framework
Merchandise Knowledge
- Utilize product and promotional insights to drive performance
- Apply industry trends to optimize merchandising decisions
