OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE
To lead, develop, and guide a sales team to achieve sales targets through effective execution of sales activities while fostering strong customer relationships. This role may also involve managing Key Customer Groups.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead, guide, and direct a sales team to optimize sales opportunities and maintain sustainable customer relationships.
- Conduct detailed business reviews, offering solutions aligned with customer objectives and market dynamics.
- Resolve escalated customer queries in compliance with company policies.
- Build and nurture relationships with industry decision-makers to enhance customer satisfaction and market share.
- Develop and implement sales strategies to drive market share growth, customer base expansion, and target achievement.
- Execute and monitor special sales initiatives to boost performance in key accounts.
- Maximize sales productivity by implementing sales and marketing plans and promotional activities.
- Expand business with wholesalers, short liners, and pharmacies within the assigned portfolios.
- Ensure the sales team has access to necessary tools and data for effective territory analysis and execution.
- Drive team performance through coaching, feedback, and performance management.
- Achieve sales forecasts and budgets at both Wholesaler and Pharmacy levels.
- Monitor industry trends to stay informed of market developments.
- Support sales representatives in identifying portfolio opportunities.
- Implement performance plans and ensure adherence to company standards.
- Foster team motivation, alignment, and best practice sharing.
- Communicate updates on sales targets, product line-ups, and strategic changes.
- Manage HR-related activities, including recruitment, performance reviews, and development.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and company policies.
- Oversee expenses, leave management, and disciplinary actions as required.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Matric/Grade 12 Certificate.
- A relevant qualification will be advantageous.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 5 years of sales experience in the pharmaceutical or related industry.
- Sales management experience preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word).
- Valid Code 8 driver’s license and own transport.
- Expertise in local pharma markets, including policies and processes.
- Experience in coaching and leading teams (advantageous).
- Familiarity with Qliksense, Qlikview, Power BI, and data tools (TPM, SSD).
- Strong commercial acumen and understanding of pharmaceutical sales cycles.
- Knowledge of compliance, regulatory standards, and supply chain processes.
